The Gateway of Nagaland

Dimapur District is bounded by Kohima District in the south and east and Karbi Anglong District of Assam in the west. Dimapur has a population of 300,000 comprising Naga tribes from all over Nagaland. Dimapur is often called the gateway of Nagaland. It is also a commercial center. The only airport in Nagaland is in Dimapur. Indian Airlines plies four flights a week to Dimapur from Delhi and Kolkata. In the very heart of the town of Dimapur are seen the relics of the ancient Kachari Kingdom. About 39 km away from Dimapur is the Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary.
