Syndai Caves




Syndai Caves, situated at Syndai, is a major tourist destination. It was used as hideouts during the wars between Jaintia kings and foreign intruders.

Syndai Caves consists of 11 independent caves such as Amsohmahatang, Rupasor or Ka Krem Pubon Rupasor, Kriah, Amkoi, Amkhloo, Amlashriah, Amthymme, Amkari, Lyngngohnah, Kynda and Chair.

Syndai is about 47 km from Jowai. It is connected with Shillong and Silchar through the National Highway 44. Regular buses are available from Shillong. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is the nearest international airport.
