Khasi Language




Khasi is the language spoken in the East Khasi Hills District, West Khasi Hills District, Jaintia Hills District and Ri-Bhoi District, in Meghalaya. This Austro-asiatic language is also spoken in some areas of the hilly districts of Assam, bordered with Meghalaya. Khasi is a surviving dialect of the Mon-Khmer family of languages. It has no script of its own.
