Nokrek




Nokrek is located about 2 km from Tura Peak, in West Garo Hills District of Meghalaya.

Major attraction is Nokrek Peak, after which it had been named. The peak, 1,412 meters high, is the highest point in the Garo Hills region. All major rivers and streams of the district originate from here, prominent being the Simsang River, also known as Someshwari.

Another landmark is National Citrus Gene Sanctuary-cum-Biosphere Reserve, which is spread over 47 sq km. It is home to rare varieties of flora and fauna.

Nokrek can be approached from the Tura-Asanang-Daribokgre Road. It can also be reached by a trek from Daribokgre village.
