The Hatha Yoga, one of the main divisions of yoga, concentrates on the asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath control). The literal meaning of the word ‘ha’ is sun and ‘tha’ means moon. Some people define Hatha Yoga as a union of the pairs of opposites.
This yoga technique needs more physical exercises when compared to other types of yoga. It also features the third and fourth steps of
Ashtanga Yoga. Hatha Yoga helps to attain concentration and practice real meditation and balance. It is believed that Gorakhnath, a Hindu master yogi had developed the primary postures and breathing techniques of Hatha Yoga.
