Sriperumbudur




Sriperumbudur is located on the Chennai- Kanchipuram road and is around 40 km south-east of Chennai.

It is an important pilgrim center for the Vaishnavities. Manimangalam, 20 km east of Sriperumbudur, is the birthplace of Acharya Ramanuja. Sunkuvar Chatram, Maduramangalam and Kandoor are nearby attractions.

Rajiv Gandhi, the former prime minister of India, was assassinated here in 1991. Rajiv Gandhi Memorial on the assasination spot attracts scores of people.

The nearest airport and railway station are at Chennai.
