Located in the north-eastern part of Mumbai, Mulund is one of the fastest growing commercial and residential area. It is around 30 km from downtown Mumbai and Thane is around 3 km north.
It is divided into Mulund (East) and Mulund (West) by the central railway line. As majority of the people engage in business activity, it is regarded as the business capital of Mumbai. Mulund College of Commerce, a major institution of higher education, is located in Mulund (West).
