Divine Bull

The divine bull, Nandi, is depicted facing the sanctum in all Shaivite temples. Nandi represents the human soul, Jivatma, yearning for realizing its oneness with Paramatma, the ultimate reality. There are temples devoted to Nandi in many parts of the country.
