Kolad's Kashtashilp

Kolad's Kashtashilp, known as Kolad Museum, is situated at Kolad village in Raigad district. It houses the sculptures made by Ramesh Ghone, a talented sculptor. His sculptures are carved out of bamboo and other kinds of wood. Carvings representing nature are the specialty. The royal tenets of Shivaji Maharaj, a variety of lamps and bas-relief kind of carvings are significant among Ghone's works. Life-like birds carved out of wood, ceremonial lamps and many sensitive images of human beings with highly emotive faces fill his workshop.

To reach this place, the nearest airport is at Mumbai (100 km). Mahad and Mangaon railway stations are at distances of 25 km and 10 km respectively. Kolad lies close to Mahad on the Mumbai-Goa highway.
