Koyna River




Koyna River is a 100 m wide tributary of the Krishna River, in western Maharashtra. It is rich in algae and aquatic plant life. Koyna Dam, the largest hydroelectric project in the state is built across the river. The river also forms the 50 km long Shivaji Sagar Lake. The confluence of Koyna with Krishna River is at Karad in South India.
