Jalna District is located on the central part of
Maharashtra. It is bordered by
Parbhani District and
Buldhana District in the east,
Aurangabad District in the west,
Jalgaon District in the north and
Beed District in the south. The district's headquarters is at
Jalna town.
Marathi,
Hindi,
Urdu and
Telugu are the languages spoken. With a sub-tropical climate, it receives rainfall from the south-west monsoon (June to September). Jalna District has a population of over 1.6 million. Jowar, bajra, cotton, sugarcane, tur, maize and moong are the major crops. The temperature ranges from 10
o C to 39
o C.
Jalna District is famous for hybrid seed processing industries, steel rolling mills and agro based industries. The Ganesh Temple at Rajur, Khandoba Temple at
Ambad, Kali Masjid and
Guru Ganesh Bhavan at Jalna are the tourist attractions.
