Kanwars is a scheduled tribe inhabiting
Jashpur,
Raigarh,
Sarguja and
Korba districts of
Chhattisgarh.
Their main occupation is agriculture. They are also good bowmen. Marriages are performed on the auspicious day of Basant Panchami.
Kanwar Tribe is believed to be the descendants of the Kauravas in the great epic, Mahabharata.
