Bandhavgarh National park is a small park with a very high density of tigers. The park has an area of 450 sq km. It is rich in sal (Shorea robusta) forests. In ancient times it was the game reserve of the Maharajas of Rewa. White tigers are main attraction of the park. The park is known for the royal Bengal tigers, cheetahs, leopard, gaur, sambhar, and more faunal species. It is one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in India. The park is also rich in avifauna and birds such as the green pigeon, crested serpent eagle, and variable hawk eagle. There are several cave shrines. The climate of the park is cool and pleasant. Best period to visit the park is February to June.

Bandhavgarh.
