Madhav National Park is located in
Shivpuri District of
Madhya Pradesh. The park area was a hunting place of the Gwalior royal family and the British. George Castle situated in the sanctuary was constructed for the hunting purpose of King George V.
It covers an area of 157 sq km and the principal fauna found are tiger, leopard, chital, sambar, blue bull, chinkara, four-horned antelope (Chousingha) and wild boar. The park is also rich in bird life. Main birds found are migratory geese, pochard, pintail, teal, mallard and gadwall.
Nearest airport is at Gwalior and railhead is at Jhansi. Nearest bus stations are at Shivpuri and Jhansi.
