The Bhasabharathi

Center for Performing Arts, Research, and Training

Bhasabharathi is a center for performing arts, research, and training. It inherits the legacy of the continued and colorful work of the Sopanam Institute, which has a standing of more than 30 years in the field of theater and performing arts of Kerala. It is formed with a view to extend the achievements of Sopanam to an international level. It is proposed to organize outreach activities by conducting international theater workshops to teach the theories of Indian aesthetics through practice, for which further efforts in the documentation of artistic materials and the dissemination of the same are of primary importance. Its objectives include developing a universal language for theater that can communicate beyond the verbal and to use elements of various folk, classical and martial art forms in theater to create a language in which the actor is the medium and his body creates the alphabet. With these objectives in view, Bhasabharathi offers one month training program for actors, theater persons, lovers and promoters of theater arts.
