Raktamoksha is a special treatment in
ayurveda for diseases associated with blood impurities. This treatment is to cause bleeding of impure blood, by inflicting cuts at particular points of the body. It is normally done by surgical instruments. In some cases blood letting is done by applying leeches. The treatment is done for repeated attacks of skin disorders such as urticaria, rash, eczema, acne, scabies, leucoderma, chronic itching, and such other diseases.
