Puliroopa Kali Temple




Puliroopa Kali Temple is located at Ramapuram in Kannur District and is about 20 km from Payyanur. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Kali. It houses two sanctum sanctorums - Bhandarappura and Nadappura.

The specialty of the temple is the performance of various Theyyams. Among them, the major ones are Kandappuli, Marappuli, Rakthachamundi, Pullkkarinkali, Puliroopa Kali and Kalappuli. The theyyams are conducted from 11th to 15th of the Malayalam month, Medam (April-May).

Chandranellur Bhagavathi Temple, Malliyottu Palottukavu Aadaam Kovval, Vettakkorumakan Kshethram, Karivellur Madappally Someswari Temple and Karippal Nagam are the major places of worship nearby.

The temple can be reached from Payyanur by traveling on Payyanur-Cherupuzha Road.
