Manipravalam

Manipravalam, where ‘Mani’ meaning ruby and ‘Pravalam’ meaning coral, is an elitist literature composed in a hybrid language of Malayalam and Sanskrit. It was compiled and supported by the elite group, especially the Namboothiris. This literature came into practice between the 9th and 12th centuries.

Leelathilakam was a seminal text of the Manipravalam style. Manipravalam was also used to compose Ramanattam by Kottarakara Thampuran.
