Cheruthuruthy is 29 km north of
Thrissur and is the birth place of traditional
kathakali.
Kerala Kalamandalam located here has produced some of the renowned kathakali performers. The institution also offers training for music, drama and other dance forms such as
mohiniyattam,
koodiyattam and ottam thullal.
