Talakadu




Talakadu is an important tourist place situated around 60 km towards east of Mysore City, on the banks of the Kapila-Cauvery River. This place is historically important in that it was ruled by Harshavardhana, Purusha, Rashtra Kutas, Vishnuvardhana and Vijayanagar Kings. The town came under the control of the Hoysalas in the 12th century and now houses over 30 temples. It is the meeting place of two rivers Kapila and Kaveri and is known for the sand dunes. The famous Vaidyeshwara - Shiva Temple, Madavamantri Dam and Shivana Samudra falls are some of the places worth visiting. Accommodation facilities are available at Talakadu Island Resort.
