Mulbagal

Situated 100 km from Bangalore, Mulbagal is a taluk in Kolar District. This busy township is known for the Hanuman Temple. Mulbagal is a contraption of the name Mudala Bagilu attributed to this temple. Narasimha Tirtha in this town is a pilgrim center for Madhwa Brahmins.

Among the many mosques and dargahs, the tomb of Hyder Oulia dedicated to a Muslim saint is impressive and worth a visit. The place provides good climbing opportunities to the hill close to the town. Carved footprints of Lord Shiva can be seen at the tip of the hill and the summit also offers a commanding view of the distant hills, lakes and villages.

About 8 km further to the east of Mulbagal, there is a sleepy village named Marandahalli famous for a colorful temple of Hanuman.

Mulbagal falls on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway 4. A number of buses are available from Bangalore and Kolar to Mulbagal.
