Air-India caters to the domestic and international needs of travelers. It started its operations in the international scene with the beginning of 1948. Air-India's worldwide network today covers 44 destinations by operating services with its own aircraft and through code-shared flights. Air-India currently operates flights from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram. Air-India has alliances with other leading airlines of the world such as Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa, and Virgin Atlantic to offer passengers a wider network of routes. Air-India is all set to launch a new subsidiary airline – Air India Express, effective from 2005.
