House Swift



House Swift (Apus affinis) is a small smoky-black bird (15 cm) with a white throat, white rump, short square tail and long narrow wings.

The bird mainly feeds on dipterous insects. Its nesting season is from February to September. Nest is a roundy cup of feathers and straw cemented with the bird's saliva, with a slit between wall and nest for entrance.

House Swift can be seen in the Naharh Wildlife Sanctuary, Haryana.
