Jasrota




Jasrota is one of the principal administrative divisions of Jammu District, in Jammu and Kashmir. This scenic village is situated on the banks of the Ujh River. It is about 63 km from Jammu.

It was discovered by Raj Jas Dev in the year 1019. Jasrotias (also Jamwals) ruled here up to 1834, while it was given to Raja Hira Singh.

Places of tourist interest include Jasrota Fort and Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary. An ancient shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali is situated on a hillock on the outskirts of the village.

Jammu Tawi Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The nearest airport is Jammu Airport at Jammu. Jasrota is accessible from Rajbagh, on the Jammu-Kathua road.
