Harmukh Mountain

Harmukh is a mountain in the Himalayan ranges, situated towards the north-east of Srinagar city, towering over a height of 5145 m above the sea level. It came to be called as 'Harmukh' as the mountain looks similar from all sides. According to a popular belief, this mountain situated between the Jhelum and Kishan Ganga valley, is the abode of Lord Shiva. The sacred Gangabal Lake is situated at its foot hills. In the month of September, Kashmiri pundits gather here for performing Shraddha for their dead relatives.
