Shingo La, situated at an altitude of about 5200 m is in Leh District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located between Lahaul and Zanskar region of Ladakh.
The pass is an ideal base for trekking. The main trekking includes Manali via Shingo La. One can trek to Shingo La base camp by crossing the Barai Nallah.
There are magnificent mountain peaks around the pass. Rumjack is a camp site for nomadic shepherds, near the pass. Nearby the pass is the confluence of the rivers Shingo and Barai. The pass is surrounded by several glaciers. One can reach Lahaul from Zanskar via Shingo La. One of the tributaries of the Zanskar River, the Kurgiakh-chu has its source near the Shingo La.
