Situated in the
Satluj Valley in the outer hills, Bilaspur District covers an area of 1,167 sq km and has an altitude of 670 m above the sea level. It is bounded with
Una,
Hamirpur,
Mandi and
Solan districts.
Sutlej, the main river of Bilaspur runs through the center and divides the district into almost equal parts. Geographically Bilaspur is in the temperate zone; the climate ranges from high temperature to sub tropical and has snow fall rarely.
The main tourist attractions of the district are Vyas Cave, Bhakra Nangal Dam, Tiun Fort, Markandeya temple and Naina Devi temple. Bahadurpur fort is situated on the top of the Bahadurpur hill, which is the highest point in Bilaspur. Nalwari Cattle Fair, Navratri, Gugga, Baisakhi, Vasant Panchami, Shivratri, Holi and
Dussehra are the major fairs and festivals.
