Batal

Batal is a scenic village situated at the foot of the Kunzum Pass in Lahaul and Spiti District, Himachal Pradesh. It lies at an elevation of about 3,960 m, on the Manali – Chandra Tal Lake - Hamta Pass trek route in Lahaul Valley. The region is a very windy and dusty place. Chandra River flows nearby. Batal offers inspiring views of a slender triangular peak to the south and the Bara Shigri Glacier.

Chhatru, Losar, Bara Shigri Glacier, Chhota Shigri Glacier and Gramphu are located nearby. Batal is an ideal base for trekking and rock climbing. Base camps are available.

Kullu Manali Airport at Bhuntar is the nearest airport. Joginder Nagar Railway Station is the nearest railway station. Batal is connected by road to Chhota Dara (17 km.)
