Kalka is located in the
Panchkula District of
Haryana and lies on the
National Highway 22.
Chandigarh is 22 km southwest of Kalka.
Kalka is the gateway to explore Himachal Pradesh and Shimla is 96 km northeast. The famous Kalka Devi temple is located on the Kalka-Shimla road. A fair is held at Kalka annually during the month of March and April.
Kalka Railway Station is the terminus of the broad gauge rail line from Delhi and the starting point of the narrow gauge line to Shimla. The Toy Train ride from Kalka to Shimla passes through a staggering 105 tunnels.
