Dabhoi

Dabhoi is an ancient town, originally known as Darbhavati. It is 30 km south-west of Vadodara. The town came under the control of Muslim rulers, in 1300.

The Dabhoi Fort is a fine example of Hindu Military architecture. There are four gates in the town. Hira Bhagol, the most delicately carved gate, in the east, Vadodara Gate in the west, Champaner Gate in the north and Nandod Gate in the south. Dabhoi has many Jain and Hindu temples. It is also the birthplace of the great Gujarati poet, Raskavi Dayaram, the composer of many garbis (devotional songs). Dabhoi Railway station is one of the oldest narrow gauge railway junctions in the world, which is worth visiting.

Shri Darbhavati Teerth, Chandod, Karnali and Sankheda are the important tourist spots.

The nearest airport is Vadodara Airport. Dabhoi Junction Railway Station is a prominent railhead of Gujarat.
