Narmada District




Narmada District of Gujarat came into existence in 1997 on dividing Bharuch and Vadodara districts. It lies between the banks of the rivers Narmada and the Karjan, in south Gujarat. It covers an area of 2,755 sq km with Rajpipla is the headquarters.

The places to visit are the Sardar Sarovar (one of the largest dam projects in South Asia), the Karjan Dam, Vijayraj Palace (built in 1912) Shoolpaneshwar Sanctuary and Malsamot Waterfall. The holy sites of Garudeshwar, Chandod, Shuklatirth and Nareshwar; and temples of Harsiddhi Mata, Hanuman and Gayatri Mata are other interesting places.
