Gandhidham

Situated about 50 km southeast of Bhuj in Kutch District, Gandhidham was constructed for the people displaced during the partition of India. The town got its name as the ashes of Gandhiji were immersed at Kandla Creek. Kandla, the only free trade zone in the country, is 12 km southeast of Gandhidham. Khavada, Bhardeshwar, and Purneshwar are places of interest nearby.

National Highway 8A connecting Ahmedabad with Mandvi passes nearby. Bhuj and Kandla are the nearest airports. Gandhidham railway station is major rail junction on the Western Railway.
