Navsari




Navsari, the administrative headquarters of Navsari District, is a historic town situated on the banks of Purna River, in the western coast of Gujarat. It was an important Parsi settlement from 1142 AD. Navsari is about 30 km south of Surat while the industrial hub of Ahmedabad is about 372 km north-east.

Navsari is one of the major centers for the cutting and polishing of diamonds. Major point of attraction is the sanatorium, Fire Temple, tower of silence and smaller Agiaris. Dandi, famous for the 'Dandi March Salt Satyagraha' launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930, is situated about 16 km north-east.

Navsari Railway Station is on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad railway line of Western Railways. By road, Navsari is well connected with Surat, Ankleshwar, Bardoli, Vyara and Vapi.
