Ugrasen ki Baoli in Connaught Place
is a medieval step-well or Baoli
built of rubble and dressed stone. The northern end of the structure is a raised platform. A massive neem tree shades the structure. The center of the well stores water and it is linked to a well dug in a covered platform. It is believed that Ugrasen, also known as Agarsen, had constructed the original baoli. However, the present structure was constructed during the reign of the Lodhi Dynasty
. Ugrasen is also considered to be the legendary builder of Agra
city. Ugrasen ki Baoli is a fine example of Delhi
's unique architecture.
