Northern Pintail

Northern Pintail (Anas acuta) is a long-necked slender duck. Male has brown head, white neck and underparts, and grayish back and sides. It has long, black, pointed central tail feathers. The wings are metallic brown and green with white rear borders.

The bird lives in marshes, prairie ponds and tundra. Female lays six to nine pale greenish-buff eggs in a shallow bowl of grass lined with down, often some distance from water. The bird feeds on aquatic plants, seeds, grass, small aquatic animals and insects.

The bird can be spotted in Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary, Haryana.
