National Museum of Natural History



National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) is one of the most important museums in India, located on the Barakhamba Road, in Delhi. The main aim of the museum is to promote environmental awareness among different target groups. The museum has various exhibit galleries, a Bio-Science Computer Room, an Activity Room and a Mobile Museum.

The museum boasts of various exhibits based on the origin and evolution of life, the variety and diversity of plants and animals, their interrelationship in nature and the fundamentals of ecology.

National Museum of Natural History conducts various educational activities and film shows for the benefit of schoolchildren and teachers throughout the year. It also arranges special programs for handicapped children. The museum publishes pamphlets on environmental related topics, worksheets and workbooks for the children.

NMNH organizes various audio-visual extension programs and film shows at schools, colleges, resettlement colonies in Delhi and rural areas.

Visiting hours are set between 10:00 to 17:00 hrs, except on Mondays.
