Kishanganj District in Bihar is bounded by West Bengal, Bangladesh and Nepal. The earlier name of the district was Krishna-Kunj. The population is 1,295,000. There are different places of worship, such as Maa Kali, Odraghat, Masjid, Sri Digambar Jain Mandir, Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha, Catholic church and Mazare Kadam Rasool.
The main forestland is at Thakurganj and Terhagach. The climate is very humid and the temperature ranges from a maximum of 41°C to a minimum of 5°C in May and January respectively.
Both industries and agriculture flourish throughout Kishanganj District. There are ply wood industries, tea-processing plants, jute industries, poultry farming, cottage industry, and silk industry. Apex tea processing plant at the border of Bihar and West Bengal produces good quality tea, which is exported to other states of India. Silk industry near Kishanganj block produces good quality sarees.
