Kaimur District




With a population of over 1 million, Kaimur District of Bihar has an area of 3,362 sq km. Bhabhua is the district headquarters. The main source of income is agriculture. Rice, maize, wheat and sugarcane are some of the important crops.

Karmnasha and Durgawati are two major rivers. Rock painting sites have been discovered at Kaimur, increasing its tourist potential. These paintings belong to the Mesolithic period, roughly calculated to be from 5000 BC to 2500 BC. Many of these paintings depict animals. Kaimur Hills and Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary are the main attractions.
