Kamrup is bounded by the foothills of Bhutan and
Nalbari District in the north, the state of
Meghalaya in the south,
Nagaon District and
Darrang District in the east and
Goalpara and Nalbari districts in the west.
Guwahati is the district headquarters. Kamrup has an area of 4,345 sq km, supporting a population of 2.5 million.
The Brahmaputra, Kalangsuti, Digaru, Bharalu, Kulsi, and Singra are the important rivers flowing through Kamrup District.
Kamakhya Temple, Geeta Mandir, Aswaklanta, Balaji Temple, and
Navagraha Temple are the major temples. Kamrup district also has some tourist destinations such as Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Saraighat Bridge, and the Guwahati Planetarium.
