Dispur




Dispur, the capital of the state of Assam, is a well planned city located on the Guwahati-Shillong route and is 10 km east of Guwahati. It is famous as the auction market for tea in the state.

Dispur is an ideal base for tourists venturing to various destinations in the state. Places worth visiting in the vicinity include Basistha Ashram, Sankardeva Kalashetra, Assam State Museum, Commercial Museum, zoo and botanical garden and Sualkuchi - a silk weaving center. A stroll along the vast expanses of tea estates will be a scintillating experience.

Nearest airport is at Guwahati. Guwahati Junction Railway Station serves the city. Guwahati is the convergent point of National Highway 31, 37 and 40 and hence has regular bus links with all major cities and towns of the north-eastern states.
