East Kameng District in the west and the state of
Assam in the south.
Papum Pare District has a population of approximately 0.1 million, including the Nishis and Mikir tribes. The language of Nishis belongs to the Tibeto-Burman family. ‘

Buddhist Gompa, Theravada Buddhist Temple and Rono Hills are the major tourist destinations. The Pare, Panior and Dikrong are the main rivers.
The district has helipads at Naharlagun and Itanagar. Harmoti (in Assam) is the nearest railway station. Yupia is the headquarters of Papum Pare District.
