Akashi Ganga

Akashi Ganga is a sacred place, situated about 12 km from Malinithan, on the way to Along from Likabali, in West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh.

The legend of Goddess Sati – the consort of Lord Shiva -has been associated with this place. It is believed that the head of Sati's corpse fell near Akashi Ganga while being carried by Lord Shiva to Kailas.

Points of interest in the vicinity include Akashi Ganga waterfalls and ruins of an ancient temple. A spiral path from the temple leads to a kund, a bath in which is considered sacred. The enchanting views of the Brahmaputra River glimmering far below add to the charm the place.
